It was a fine day from early in the morning. When I worked for a year end house cleaning, I checked portable radios and lights with the result that I found every dry battery of them was required to be exchanged with new ones. I went down to Akihabara street to get them at the lowest cost at shops specialized in dry batteries.
In order to avoid the big crowds at ATM of banks and post offices tomorrow, I went around them just to record the balance of saving on my bank notes a bit passed nine o'clock. When I finished all of them, many people was forming waiting lines at the fronts of ATM. It was estimated that a few thousands billion yen would be drawn from banks and post offices a day today. The operating speed of the machines was slower than usual because of busy line, I noticed.
I drove up to a gas station and fill up the car with gasoline. I could buy a sheet of mochi (rice cake) although I did not make a reservation at Matsushimaya Daifuku store.
Now the problems were whether my computers could be operated or not. The vaio which was installed with Windows 98 might be good, while IBM Aptiva and IBM535 note type computers might have troubles, I presumed. I decided to take a wait-and-see attitude. As for Travel Diary, I asked the server to make its backup.
Thus I completed my counter measures against Y2k. So I tried to enjoy TV programs. But the high vision TV's programs did not match the year end days so that I could not enjoy them. Some of other programs did not fit in with the surroundings of our life. The most of others were recollection programs which I did not like.
| The vacuum tube amplifier got a good vinyl cover, I tried to utilize it for listening good music broadcasts. It might not be used except for listening live program of New Year Concert from Vienna. |
