This afternoon, I went to Akihabara. There were many people. The main street was only for pedestrians as it was Sunday. It was crowded with youths about ages of teens and twenties holding knapsacks on their backs. Demonstrations of game softs at the store fronts attracted these people. As I saw in Ginza yesterday, it was the first time for me in the year to meet big crowds here in Akihabara.

I came down here to buy a new conversion soft from Japanese to Kanji called as ATOK13. But what were these people going to buy? If they came here to get game softs, it might be all right to buy them on impulse. But it is important to make research on PCs, their accessories and business softs beforehand. In the old days, there were a few sales people in Akihabara who understood everything about PCs. They helped customers to select right machines for their use. But as PC shops at Akihabara were diversified to many shopping streets within Tokyo as well as local shopping centers, number of these competent and talented people decreased here in Akihabara. It is very hard to meet these people. If you ask the salesmen about PC in a little details, they reply you "Please ask the manufacturers of products" (They might be trained to answer in such a manner.)@At this shopping street, you have to select products at your own responsibility and purchased them ( At big PC stores in U.S.A., many packaged PCs are piled up inside a big buildings like warehouses and their softs are exhibited as big shelves like at libraries. Almost no salesmen are there. So customers have to select products themselves and brought them to cashiers. Sometimes there were consultants for customers. But it was always hard to get them.)
