A class meeting of my primary school in Kamakura was held on October 22 at Kamakura. Although I expected to attend the meeting, I canceled my attendance early in the morning of the day. Because I became so busy that I could not have time for going there. It was my regret that I had to tell it to Mr, Nakamura who had been making efforts to prepare the meeting. Today I received his report on the meeting with a photograph.

This class meeting has been held once a year for long time from the prewar days. Three mates, namely Mr. Muneo Nakamura (right of rear row on th picture: After retired from a foreign publishing company, he learned at a school for three years and got a license of a practitioner in acupuncture and moxibustion from the government. Now he has a clinic in Hiyoshi, Kanagawa prefecture.)AMr. Kotaro Takermura ( left of Nakamura on the picture: He had an architect office until last year. He designed Mr. Hachiboshi's home, Mt. Tamaru's home and mine.) and the past Moto-o Ohtake (While he worked for a construction company, he was active as a poet. His death was three years ago.) managed the meeting voluntarily for long years. Mr. Kenji Tamaru(left on rear row) and Mr. Nobuo Taga (next to Tmaru on rear row) are the honorary professors of Tokyo University. We have the other professor, Mr. Toru Yuge who was absent on the day ( He is well known as a man of conviction in peace in Japan). Mr. Ryoji Kato (left on front row: He worked for a seafood company) has an earnest love for golf (He is said to play about one hundred and fifty rounds a year.). Mr. Izumi Takeuchi (right of Kato) was a former general of Defense Force. Mr. and Mrs. Shuntaro Goto(next to Takeuchi) attended. He was a maestro of Kamakura wood curving who came from a family of pedigreed sculptors of Buddhist (His two daughters learned at Tokyo Arts University which his father graduated from. One of them became a successor of her father's Kamakura curving and another daughter became a world famous designer for plaster arts ). Two ladies next to him came from a girl class of the same grade as of us. Ms. Kiyoi Kiriyama (old family name: Ohmiya) lost her husband while they were young. He was one of the most promising carrier officials of Ministry of Finance. I do not remember Ms. Tamiko Mori (next to Ohmiya , old family name: Kikuchi). If I saw her, my memory might come back. Ms. Setsuko Hachiboshi' hasuband, Akira, faded away about five years ago. Akira was a pioneer of auto finance in Japan.
The number of students of a class at our school was limited to forty. It was smaller than the average at city schools at that time. Still we had a few of intellect, talent and genius. According to Mr. Nakamura, Mr. Tamaru was decorated with a second degree medal in his brilliant contributions in chemistry. Mr. Naruto Ohira was given a third degree decoration for his works in a field of science dealing with the prevention of disasters. Mr. Izumi Takeuchi was decorated with a forth degree medal for his excellent service to the defense force. Mr. Goto was given a fifth degree decoration for his distinguished works in field of arts. Mr. Yuge rejected to receive a decoration following his sturdy faith in peace.
