Today we held a welcome party for Professor Pramod Shrestha and Mrs. Rita Shrestha from Nepal at MEGA.WEB in Odaiba, Tokyo. Mrs. Kohinoor Mathema, wife of the Ambassador of Nepal joined the party. Dr. Pramod, Professor of Engineering of Tribhuvan Univesity, Nepal, had kindly helped us to make our tour to Himalaya enjoyable as much as possible when we (13 of us including two wives) went on the trip in February 1997. Today 8 of us attended the party including two wives, namely Messrs Akira Kawahara, Hideo Kitagawa, Tatsuro Matsuoka, Junji Uematsu, Yoshikazu Ushida, Mr. and Mrs. Tadao Yamaguchi and Mrs. Katsuya Yamada.

They enjoyed a view of Tokyo Metropolis as well as the Bay of Tokyo from a cabin of the world largest sight-seeing wheel. They rode on a steering free electric car on test road. The restaurant at Historical Garage of the WEB sight served a special menu including chicken dishes with a small national flag of Nepal on the table.

Dr. Pramod left for Seikei University at two o'clock with Messrs Kitagawa and Matuoka. He was scheduled to make a speech titled as "Technology Choice/ Developing Countries Dilemma" at The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies within the university. I brought the remaining persons to the Venus Fort next to MEGA.WEB which was one of the largest shopping mole for women in Asia. They happened to find out napkins made in Nepal and their price was five times as much as in Nepal. This might have given them impressions that every goods was priced high. The female guests with party dresses seemed to suffer the unusual hot weather, thirty degrees high.

iAs I was busy for lead the party, it is my regret that I missed a chance for taking pictures of two female guests wearing formal dresses with shining vehicles on the exhibition hall.j

Yesterday's evening editin of the Nihonkeizai Shimubun reported a tie up of CarPoint and Nissan. Furthermore its today's morning edition reported the Seven-Eleven ( a biggest comveinece stores chain in Japan) joined CarPoint Japan by investing capitals to it with the result that the total capital of \840 million will be shared 45 percent by Softbank Commerce, 37 percent by Microsoft, 8 percent by Yahoo and 10 percent by Seven-Eleven. The CarPoint said they will start their business in November, this year with eight manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Fujijyuko and an authorized importer of U.S. Ford including Nissan.

Meanwhile the Autobytel Japan is going to start their business in November with 200 dealers including dealers of Nissan, Honda, Fujijuko, Isuzu, Ford, Volvo and Jaguar in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, today's Nikkei Shimbun reported.

We have to watch on the response of Japanese manufacturers not having agreements with these powerful foreign e-commerce traders and also the fierce competitions among foreign on-line companies.
