The weather station announced it was 34.5 degrees, the highest temperature of this summer. It was 37 to 38 degrees on streets. In order to avoid fierce heat, I went down to Shinagawa Aquarium. It was located inside Shinagawa Kumin Park, five minutes walk from Ohomori-Kaigan Station of Keihin Express.

I expected that the aquarium was not crowded on Monday but it was crowded with young families bringing their little children. It was cool and comfortable inside the museum. Many kinds of fishes were exhibited in well devised ways. We can see fishes from the bottom of glass tank as well as from the side. They were moving so fast in water that I could not get good pictures of them without using flash bulb (Its use is prohibited.)

The two above pictures on right are of a small shrimp, of which body length is about two centimeters. It has white legs on its red colored body. It is really a beautiful creature living at the sea bottom. Its name in English is "white socks".

I took a water bus from the park to Hinode Pier, Port of Tokyo on my way back. The boat was painted dark yellow as shown in picture. Its outlook was modern and the inside had enough room for passengers with big glass windows. Its captain was a young lady and her assistant was a middle aged man.

The canal to Port of Tokyo was so big and wide that there were rough waves. Especially when a coast guard high-speed boat passed by, big waves were rising. As I was standing at the front deck, I got wet with waves. Inside the port, there were many piers with giant gantry cranes specially built for big container carriers.

I enjoyed one hour cruise with sea breeze. The cruise is recommended.
