I walked around the front of Imperial Palace and Ohtemachi street (a nearby business center) in the early morning of today. It is the 54th memorial day of the termination of war. The double bridges of the palace have been kept almost the same as of 54 years ago. There were almost no people at a big imperial plaza. Those whom I happened to see on my walk spoke not in Japanese but in foreign. Most of the big buildings at Ohtemachi business center were built after the war. I noticed that significant percentage of these buildings' tenants are foreign banks, insurance and security companies.

About noon, I went to Ginza and visited a glasses store to adjust and fix the frame of my glasses. Although it was Sunday, the street was not crowded in an atmosphere something like in a resort town. Many foreigners were there.

In the evening I could see a display of fireworks at the port of Tokyo (postponed from yesterday due to rain) from my house. But I went out to a small nearby park, expecting to get better shots of the fireworks. It was a mistake because many new buildings obstructed the view and I could see only a few big ones which exploded very high in sky. Many foreigners were at the park.
