* This morning I drove up to the Otome Mountain
Pass at 5:35. I saw the beautiful Mt.Fuji capped with white snow
in the dawn sky (bottom left picture.) It was the first time for
me to acknowledge that the dawn sky was very light. After 6:00,
the top of mountain took directly the sun shine (bottom center
picture.) At the same time, the sky around the mountain has become
light pink. At 6:10, the whole body of mountain became red. However,
due to the remaining moistures brought by heavy rains in last
night, it did not look beautiful the same as its picture taken
on October 13. It looked rather dull. The thermometer installed
on the road side was one degree centigrade. I wore the same clothes
with the down jacket which I brought to the view point at 4,000
meters high from sea level, from where I could see Mt. Everest
with my own eyes. So I could watch the change of its appearance. The
three pictures shown below were selected from my 54 shots of the
mountain. If I came here 30 minutes earlier, I would be able to
take a shot of Mt. Fuji together with the night view of Gotemba
city. I was very happy today.
* In evening, Mr. Hideo Kitagawa facsimiled
me a partial copy of book titled as "Submarine I-38 came
back" wrote by Mr. Tsurayuki Hashimoto, the commander of
boat. The fax message was only concerned with Mr. Kazuo Sakamaki
and Mr. Toshio Mizui's special attacks. I found the new facts
from it. I thank him for his efforts to send them on fax. I will
make efforts to get a full copy of his book at the earliest occasion.
I woukd like to study the commander's character.
