I visited Dr.Yoshiya Yamazaki at the Surgery Department of Tokyo Kyosai Hospital (Tokyo Government Workers Mutual-Aid Association Hospital) in Nakameguro, Tokyo with a introduction letter from Dr. Namiko Sumi of National Cancer Center Tokyo Central Hospital. Dr. Yamazaki was very busy today so that I had to wait until past four o'clock, being much delayed from the reserved time. He looked at my legs and told me instantly both of my legs were in Lymphedema. He put my legs in Hudma for more than thirty minutes, a massage machine specially designed for lymphedema patients, and wrote a prescription of Esberiven tablets for two weeks. He also gave me a copy of booklet wrote by him and titled as "Can lymphedema be cured ?" It was after six o'clock in evening when I left the hospital. He taught me the English name of this disease as "Lymphedema." I searched for the reports of disease on internet and got many medical reports about it. The most of them are cases of female patients who had operation on uterine cancer or breast cancer ( some of them had the disease ten years after operation. ) However there are many male patients too. The doctor told me the most of male patients had disease on both legs while female patients have the disease on a leg. The patient's circulation of lymph becomes inactive so that she/he has little resistance to bacteria infection. Therefore it is very important for the patient to keep herself/himself clean. The small wound may become inflamed by bacteria infected through it, he added.
