* The other day I reported on this diary that my V2 computer's response became good and its operation became light after the machine was checked by Mr. Yoshinobu Nakamura, owner and general manager of Cafe Autheneum. I called him today after a long time and could get what he did on V2. He said he erased all of Cookie as too much Cookie were saved within V2. It was good not only for operation of machine but also for protection of individual information, he added. I thanked him very much for his kind help.
* IBM Service Center faxed me the confirmation of their receipt of fee for the repair of IBM535 note PC early this morning. I went down to the center to get the machine past ten o'clock. Although it was Saturday, the center was open for customers ( open from 9:00 to 18:00 except on the second Sunday and national holidays.) Their repair report said O/S was not installed on the PC when they got it, so the machine cannot start to operate on Windows. But due to the license agreement with Microsoft Co., IBM cannot install Windows95 on their products. Please do it yourself, they added. Immediately after I came back to my home, I sent a package of the PC, a floppy disc driver and a CD-ROM only for IBM note PC to Mr. Nalamura via express mail.
* In evening, after I observed Takanohana won a match against Kaioh on TV with the result that the championship final of tomorrow would be fought between Musashimaru and Takanohana, I took a walk on the Ginza street after dark. Although it passed 19:00, many retail stores including big department stores were still open. The most of them do not close before 20:00 while discount houses or restaurants are open till late in evening. I was surprised to see many pedestrians who took walks at this hour on Saturday evening. As WAKO, Mitsukoshi and an old San-Ai building (I do not know the present name of this building) at the road cross of Ginza 4-chome renewed the light up of their buildings so that the cross was bright just like in day time. Many foreign tourists stopped at the corners of cross and were looking around the fancy illuminations. When I walked into back street, I happened to pass by Ketel's, a German restaurant where I came three or four times a year in old days. I dropped in its cafe and took a bowl of cram chowder and a dish of German sandwich. Both of them were delicious. Although I took a picture of waitresses wearing Tirol costume, but failed to put their black socks and shoes within the frame of picture. It was Saturday evening. The cafe had only one couple of guests other than me, while I was there. Its accountant told me they open their restaurant all year around to get more customers. But the results were not good. She said their year long customers seemed to be leaving these days for other places. I think something unusual was prevailing over restaurants in Ginza.

I left the cafe past 20:00 but there was a lot of traffic on the main streets. The brand stores like "Coach" did not close as long as their customers were staying in their stores. When I came to the front of old Nichigeki building, I found the big crowds were walking toward JR Yurakuchou station. I wondered how they spent this evening until now. The trees on road side of Marunouchi street were illuminated to get more shoppers. The stores on the street were motivated by a newly built Marunouchi Building to increase their sales. But the street was already deserted. The lights of restaurants on 35th and 36th floors of Marunouchi building could be seen as shown in the above right picture. I did not feel any extravagance of its inside from the street.
