* I took a super express train "Nozomi"
for Nagoya from JR Tokyo station. The train left Tokyo at 9:53
with full of passengers. At Nagoya station, I joined a guided
tour by the Toyota Shayu-kai to the "Lagunasia Gamagori,"
a seaside park. It was developed over the land reclaimed from
Bay of Mikawa. The park consisted of a marina and a festival market,
It was a big park built along the beautiful bay. The swimming
pool in summer is changed in autumn to a training water for beginners
of canoe. From the wharf built on the seaside, people can make
a cruise over the bay riding on a racing yacht. The Challenger
Japan, which fought the American Cup Race, was exhibited there.
In the market, the typical world famous brands are collected for
sale while there is a booth for nail care. The most popular products
for customers are fishes sold at "Fish Market". Many
women were waiting in line to get them. The park started to sell
rooms of newly built mansion house from the last summer. It took
about an hour to get to a hotel in Nagoya city.
* Then I attended a general meeting of Toyota
Shayu-kai which is held once a year at Nagoya city. About 800
people among a total of about 1,500 members joined this evening's
meeting. Mr. Shoichiro Toyoda, honorary chairman, and Mr. Fujio
Chou, president and CEO, and many other top executives of Toyota
Motor corporation joined the meeting. It was really a magnificent
party. I happened to meet five young staffs who worked together
with me years ago. The white name labels on their breast pockets
were for the oldest members over 60 years old. Every one of the
five staffs was carrying white labels. They looked healthy and
active. Right after the party was closed, I came back to Tokyo
and arrived at the station just on 22:00.
