Early this morning, I received an express mail of my V2 computer package from Mr. Yoshinobu Nakamura. I did not have any information about the restoration work made by him. I think he swept away dusts on computer. Its response has become fast and light. It became comfortable to operate. From today, I will use V2 as a main computer again. I am expecting to recover the delay soon.

At a lunch time, a poet meeting was held today. Mr. "G," the leader of meeting, presented his comments on a book to us as a letter addressed to us. The book is titled as "Way of Adult's Thinking" written by Professor Tatsuru Uchida of Kobe College, and published by Shoubunsha. During the Meiji Era, Mr. Soseki Natsume illustrated the significance of becoming adult to the public, the author said. But the modern Japan lacked to have an adult like Mr.Natsume with the results that many people could not become adults. The most of people behaved like children. The late Mr. Masao Maruyama, whom Mr. "G" had respected, said once that he would bet on the after-war democracy which was not rooted in Japanese society yet rather than the lasting of Imperial Japan. Japan could revive due to the Allied War Criminals Trial. Without such trials, the Soviet Russia might occupy a part or all of Japan and she might have been governed by a few nations and divided into small territories like Germany right after the war. Or Japan might have become chaotic as she could not create a national consensus. I am of the opinion that Japan would have been reborn as a more transparent democratic nation if Japan put Japanese war criminals on their own trials. I have not yet understood why Mr. Toshio Mizui, a room mate at my high school board, had to make a suicide attack on August 10, 1995, only five days before the end of war. I have had doubts about the behaviors of air force admirals who continued to send many promising youths to make suicide attacks by piloting old-fashioned poor training planes, even after it became very clear that the U.S. military had almost perfect defense network systems against air-attacks. The ex-premier Hideki Tojo should be tried not only at the allied war criminals tribunal but also by Japanese court about his crimes against Japanese people. He was quite responsible for mobilizing Japanese toward the disastrous defeats. The "adult" is a demoniac word. I think it should not be used easily for covering up the facts and truth. We had quite a discussion. For example, Japanese opinions on late Mr. Iwane Matsui, ex-general of Imperial Japanese army divided into two groups. One of them insists he was responsible for atrocities in Nanjing, while another group says he was a tender hearted governor of the occupied territory (just like the historical evaluation of the ex-general of Imperial Army, Maresuke Nogi, was divided into two categories, one appraised him as an excellent commander while another group said he was a timid and imcompetent general who continued to send many young soldiers to the enemy forts just for death without having good war plans.) The argument of Messrs Maruyama or "G" cannot be justified until every detail of problems has been studied and evaluated, I think.

* I went out in evening to see "Marunouchi Building" which was newly built as a tall tower at the site of old Marunouchi Building. If its parking lots were full, I would give up my visit there. But fortunately I could park my Prius at its underground parking lots. It was just six o'clock. Immediately I tried to go up to the 36 th floor, top of the tower. But I had to get out at the 35th floor and was told to take escalator up to 36th. There is a public space on the 35 th floor where I got off from the elevator. The night view from there was really wonderful. As the room lights reflected on the glass windows, it was not easy to see the outside view. But I could identify the governments building at Kasumigaseki and office buildings along the outer moat of palace. The Tokyo Tower could be seen far from Marunouchi as shown in a bottom picture. Although I climbed up to the observation floor after dark. the view from tower was not appealing as it has not tall buildings near to it. The view from here was the worth all the trouble I had when I came up here. However, all window side space on 35th and 36th floors is for restaurants except this public space so people cannot enjoy the magnificent views without taking seats at these shops. Almost all of them were full by reservation. The cost of foods seemed to be 20,000 yen or over per person. Guests were demanded to select form the course menu. People were looking around menu with price exhibited on narrow corriders and went down to the restaurant zone on 5th and 6th floors. The popular foods such as rotary sushi, soba or noodle shops were available there.

The bottom picture was taken by pressing my camera len on glass surface of window. The tall black buildings on the left half of picture were office buildings under construction in Shiodome area.

On the left bottom picture, the gibbous moon was seen in the right sky above the old Tokyo station building. I took this picture by stopping my Prius on the street for the underground parking lots. A Toyota Century was following right behind me with a passenger, but the chauffeur stopped his car and waited me quietly to finish the shooting of moon. The center picture was taken from the Starbucks's window on the 5th floor. The right picture was a copy from a brochure which was handed out to the visitors at the grand opening of this building held on September 6.

The left and right pictures on bottom are the fronts of restaurants on 5th and 6th floor. Both of them were crowded. On the right picture (a take-out shop), you will see many people waiting in line. The public space at the front of this picture is for eating foods bought at the shop. The shopping zone was closed already, but a herb store and a book store (Maruzen) were open at this hour.

This building may be different during day time from after dark. I would like to come again sometime,
