* At Sengokuhara in Hakone, the final contest of second university students music festival in Hakone was held today. 12 teams of university students joined the festival and six of them were selected for the final contest of today. One of them, the Saizeria Team (the Keio University Wagner Society Male Chorus and Female Chorus ) sang the Requiem praying for the repose of the victims by the terrorism attack on the world trading center building.
The parking lots of concert hall were managed efficiently by students. Meanwhile, each chorus group practiced in vocalization under the shadow of trees at the concert hall's big ground.

The bottom left picture is the Saizeria team which received a special award form Mr. Katsuhisa Hattori, a composer and a chief judge of the contest. The best award was given to "Takumi" team of New Music Groups (the Shobi-Gakuen University) from the mayor of Hakone Town as shown in the bottom right picture.

It was a comfortable concert filled with the young energy of students. The third Hakone Music Festival is scheduled to be held on September 6, Saturday and 7, Sunday of next year. If possible, I would like to see it from the first day. The chief judge said it was very difficult for competitors to keep the best condition for two successive days. Therefore the order of results was changed remarkably this time.
* After the concert, I drove up to the Otome mountain pass to see Mt. Fuji as it was fine at Sengokuhara. But Mt. Fuji was covered by big clouds and a sinking sun was surrounded by fierce clouds.

* When I came back to Sengokuhara, I could see the outer rim mountains of Hakone volcano very clearly after weeks. A few big resort mansions were under construction in Sengokuhara.
