I read a book in the New Iwanami Library titled as"Dictionary of Internet Terms --To be alive in the age of Cyberspace", authored by Mr. Naoaki Yano. I bought its first edition when it was published in April 20, 2000 as a dictionary at my hand. But I have never opened it until a few days ago.
Books were piled up around my bed. When I waked up in a midnight, I picked up one of them and found it was the above mentioned book. I started to read it in order to fall in sleep. Soon I found it was a good book for me. I think I am one of the oldest personal computer users and one of the first internet operators. But to say the truth, I have little knowledge about technology of computers. I have been sending and receiving many e-mails. I read overseas news every morning and add everyday a page of day to my travel diary, my home page, both in Japanese and in English. Almost all of technical problems were up to Mr. Yoshinobu Nakamura, a genius of personal computer technology ( owner and CEO of Internet Cafe Atheneum.) He helped me very much to do my work on computers although they were infringed several times by virus.
Mr. Yano, the author, was a former editor of "Asahi Pasokon"(Asahi Personal Computers.) He had lots of newest information about the industry. By analyzing all of them, he explained all complicated and difficult problems in simple expressions with his brilliant brains. So that a person like me who is ignorant on computer technology can now understand it a little.
For example, although we put "http://www..." on the top of URL, I did not know its meaning. Mr. Yano wrote that "http" is an abbreviation of "hyper text transfer protocol" and that "html" is a protocol of transferring messages. He also explained in details about "hyper text" and "www (world wide web)"in his book.
About two years and a half have passed since the first edition of his book was published. As the technology of computer and internet has made a remarkable progress during the period, the revised edition or a new book wrote by him would be published soon, I am expecting. Still I thought it would be better to inform my impression on this book earlier. So I dared to introduce it here.
These days, I receive not a few mails from foreigners. As I have continued to write Travel Diary everyday for years, it has become easy to reach it, my home page, or a book authored by me titled as "The Origin of Competitive Strength" by putting Akira Kawahara, my name, in search box of major engines such as
Yahoo, Infoseek, Google, Welcome to Lycos, Excite and NTT Directory.
All of them must be in English version. If you want to use Japanese engines, it is the most convenient for you to use Yahoo Japan and put 쌴@W (my name) in its search box.
Yesterday I played a round of golf under a scorching sun, but I could make a normal life today. Because I took enough quantity of Pocari Sweat while I was playing, I think.
