It was the winter solstice today. It had the longest night in a year. This morning the sun rose from the south end of sky. After today the sun rise point moves to north every morning. (on the left picture, it moves to left.) Within a month, the rising sun enters the black shadow of tall buildings.

It was a beautiful day. Before noon, I drove westward on the National Highway 246 for Fujiswa beach. I could see a small Mt. Fuji from Komazawa on 246. But when I got to the beach, a magnificent view of Mt.Fuji came out suddenly, I was surprised to see it. I have liked the panoramatic view of ocean from the beach, the fresh air and the brilliant sun shine. Although I came over here frequently from my childhood at every season of year, it was the first time when I saw such a wonderful Mt. Fuji. The air was transparent. It had no wind and was warm. Many people were enjoying the surf riding.

When I got back to Tokyo, it had strong winds and was cold.
