I drove up to the hospital first time today, not riding on subway trains. Today's consulting doctor was Mr. Yoshinori Ito. He said the Microton was reset for me from the day before yesterday. As the radiation range was narrowed on the new setting, the physical burden on me was decreased. But it would take about two weeks before I realize its effect. So I may feel it after the seven week long therapy ends on December 27, 2001.
After the hospital, I went to Kudan by ten thirty and meet Mr. Kiyohiko Arafune, the chairman of the Institute of International Economy, being introduced by Mr. Iwao Yamamoto, the president of the institute. Then Mr. Bunroku Yoshino, the former chairman of institute invited me to a lunch at a nearby hotel, together with Mr. Yamamoto and Mr. Tetsuo Ohchi. The anti-terrorism actions in U.S.A. have become so drastic that they might infringe the individual rights of foreigners ( people other than U.S. citizens,) we talked about. For example, it is said that Japanese who stayed in U.S A. as business men cannot open new saving accounts at banks in U.S.A. It has become very hard for them to have new credit cards. In this way, their business activities are restricted. In extreme case, Japanese businessmen stationed in U.S.A. or travelers might be taken into custody abruptly due to their misunderstandings. U.S.A. has become only one powerful nation in the world. So they give the first priority to the safety of American without obliging with other people. That means sometimes people other than Americans will be forced to sacrifice themselves only for the benefits of American. We talked about these problems.
In afternoon, it rained hard. But I did not get wet at all as I drove back to my home.
