Mr. Shinji Uwano, Mr. Hiroshi Iino, Mr.Tadao Yamaguchi and I had a lunchon meeting at Yatsume Unagi restaurant in Azabu-Jyuban, Minato-ku, Tokyo. All of us are class mates. Mr. Uwano's home is at two chome, Mita. My home is at four chome, Mita. Mr. Iino lives at Roppongi. Three of us are in Minato-ku, Tokyo and can walk down to Azabu-Jyuban. Although Mr. Yanaguchi's home is in Denenchofu, he can come to Azabu easily by taking a Nanboku subway train. Mr. Uwano called the other three after ten o'clock this morning and we could get together at eleven thirty. The meeting was held to comfort me because I start to have radio therapy from the coming Monday.
The strongest man among us is Mr. Yamaguchi. As her wife has suffered from rheumatism for years, he is used to make daily shopping. He makes breakfast and lunch. Mrs. Yamaguchi prepares supper. He looks like a good natured old man, who likes to grow chrysanthemums and morning glories. But he is stubborn. Mr. Iino's wife fell down at stairs of the Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Department Store three days ago and broke her left arm. As the hospital which treated her is a little far from their home, Mr. Iino is worrying about that it would be quite a burden to her to go there everyday for rehabilitation. Mr. Iino is very busy as he is a very important member of the Roppongi Redevelopment Project as a representative of land owners. Mr. Uwano looks thin but very energetic, as he joined his friend's company as an top executive and goes to office everyday. We discussed about the world problems for two and a half hours.
Incidentally, I have been presented three books from yesterday:
*Mr. Shoichi Inoue, professor of the institute of economy and politics of Kansai University sent me a copy of "The World Auto Industry from 1999 to 2000." It is a kind of chronicle table of world auto industry which covers these two years. He authored series of these books for more than forty years. Due to his kindness, I own all of his works which cover a hundred years history of auto of industry. It is quite valuable data for the industry researchers. I have been impressed by his strong will and earnestness to continue his works. I thank him very much.
Toyota Motor Corporation presented me a copy of book titled as "Biography of Kiichiro Toyoda" co-written by Mr. Tsunehiko Yui and Kazuo Wada. Both authors are young scholars who never met Mr. Kiichiro Toyoda. They were given two years for completing the book, starting from collecting information and materials themselves to the finish of works. Writers of biographies tend to idolize their object but they emphasized Mr. Toyoda's human nature. I think it is a unique biography.
Mr. Hiroshi Yamamoto, a class mate of Tokyo High School, gave me a copy of his book titled as "Religion and History."which was wrote and published by himself. Not a few friends told me that the causes of struggles among world three great religions, namely Islam, Christianity and Judaism, are analyzed well in Mr. Yamaoto's book. So I asked him to give me a copy, I am reading now the second chapter about Christianity, starting from the first chapter about Judaism. It is really a good book as I expected. It is a surprise to me that he published this book five years ago. He is a man of great foresight.
