The heavy rain which continued form yesterday stopped in early morning and I could see a transparent blue sky after eight o'clock. Expecting it would be the best chance for seeing beautiful colored leaves, I left for Lake Yamanaka after nine. I took the national highway No.246 to Yokohama-Aoba interchange of Tomei super express highway, avoiding the congestions on ring road No.8. The traffic on Tomei express highway was very smooth. The national highway between Gotemba and Subashiri had a light congestion. I arrived at Lake Yamanaka at about 12:30 passing over Kagosaka mountain pass.

The colorful autumn leaves around the lake were very beautiful. The top of Mt. Fuji were covered by white clouds. But the surface of lake was transparent and clear. I could see Mitsu mountain pass clearly. I have never seen such a beautiful view of Lake Yamanaka.

The trip was something worth doing. I drove back to Tokyo taking the Chuo super express highway. Although the traffic on it was smooth, the Metropolitan speed way was heavily congested. I arrived at my home after four.
