Mr. Akira Ohyama called me this evening, informing Mr.Shigeo Shionoya (professor emeritus of Tokyo University and also of Tokyo Engineering University.) He is one of our classmates at Tokyo High School. I met him often. When I saw him last month, he looked quite well and said he was going to visit Hamburg, Germany in November. Yesterday he went out from his home as it was a very fine day but he had a severe stroke at JR Tokyo station. When he was brought to a hospital by an ambulance, he was already dead. The cause of his death is myocardial infraction. He was a professor of applied chemistry who developed green luminous body. The climbing and traveling were his hobbies. He was walking and traveling around the world.
