On September 21, I made the registration to OCN on line and just after that I applied for Flets ISDN. It was not until today that the NTT East informed me an access number to Flets ISDN by mail. It was a quite surprise that it took almost a month to get it done. From the very beginning, I was afraid that their way of doing business was rather bureaucratic because of their history ( formerly it was a powerful government agency.) They have been just like I was afraid of. I think they will not be able to compete against pure civilian services someday .

I have been carrying around a Vaio (sometimes two sets of them) not only on domestic trips but on overseas trips. Where-ever I am as far as I am on the earth, I upload a page of my travel diary everyday. For communicating from the U.S.A. and also form other foreign countries, I can get better services from American communication companies. But they have little access points within Japan. As you may know, the telephone charge is very high in Japan, sometimes I have had to pay a few ten thousands yen in a month. Meanwhile OCN has access points covering the most of Japan. So in order to save telephone cost, I registered to OCN ( I should have done it earlier.)

Not only ID and pass word are given from OCN but they are very complicated. So the aged persons like me are hard to remember them. For all that, I think they do not respect the consumers. Furthermore service area of Flets ASDL is limited to cities and no service is available in towns and villages. I am not demanding to have the service for all towns or villages. Many resort areas are located outside of cities. I think they should have the service in these places. In U.S.A., each guest room of hotels in Las Vegas has been accessible to internet earlier than most of hotels in New York. I think this has been contributed to the promotion of travel industry in Las Vegas.

The global news networks such as BBC are sending news with moving pictures. But the transfer speed of ISDN is not fast enough for receiving such news. To get them, ASDL is necesary. As the NTT is one of the leading communication companies in Japan with the national flag behind them, I hope they will respect the customers demands sincerely.
