It was fine from morning and had no wind. It was warm like in early autumn. I left my home past ten o'clock and drove westward on National Highway No. 246. I drove over to the west side of Tamagawa river after more than ten years. Not only the highway itself was constructed well but many tall apartment buildings, various stores or restaurants were built on both sides of highway. I felt as though I was running on streets of foreign countries. At a forked point of highway to Matsuda and Fujisawa, I made a left turn to Fujisawa city. I came here very smoothly, but the road around here was crowded because there were a few big shopping centers along the road. I went through the city southward and came to the Shonan Highway which run along the beach. When I drove the highway from west to east a few months ago, this part of highway was under construction. Today the road construction was finished perfectly. It is a four lane highway with median strip on center. It has a wide side walk on both sides. When I turned left and drove to Enoshima, I found big underground parking lots built and managed by the prefectural government on seaside of highway. The parking lots have a few entrances and exits of vehicles from or to the highway. Even when you are on left lanes, you can enter the lots by making right turn as the road was designed to make these turns possible.
The lot was occupied about seventy percent and the most of people were young male and female surfers. When I got out to seaside, I could enjoy a magnificent view of big seashore where many surfers were on sea waves. Some of them caught big waves and exhibited their wonderful plays. I was surprised to see so many people were swimming in sea in winter. They were protected from cold water by good wet suits.
I could enjoy a walk along seashore where waves were coming and going. I am envious of the people who can live at seaside. But when it has strong winds, people has to suffer from sand storms. They might not be able to live here comfortably all through the year.
On my way back, I took New Yokohama Road and the second Keihin National Highway. I could drive smoothly without any congestion.
