This morning two men from an air conditioner servicing company came to my home and checked the troubles of machine.

Since a year and a half ago, crumbly pieces of sponge heat insulator were falling down from the blowout slits of air conditioner installed under the roof. So I have not operated it through today. I imagined the repair cost would be high as all ceiling must be taken out and new air ducts must be reinstalled. So I decided to postpone the repair until the time when I had to make thoroughly restoration of my house. For the time being I used two electric heating carpets in stead of air-conditioner. The air conditioner units on the first and third floor work well. Although it was fiercely hot in Tokyo, cooled air on the third floor is coming down to the second so that I could protect myself form heat.

Fortunately the second floor has direct sun shine into the room in morning in winter. So if it is fine, the room is more like a green house. The heating is rarely needed in day time. So the two heating carpets are enough for warming up the room. But these day I became very busy and sometimes I worked through midnight. Furthermore, the new BS digital TV station broadcasts classical music in midnight. The heating capacity of electric carpet was not enough for midnight coolness. The other day when I used an electric heater as a supplement, I fell in nap and a part of my chair was scorched.

That is why I called repair men. They told me heat insulator was not used in air duct. It was used only at blowout box of air exit. It is not difficult to clean up the box by replacing old worn-out insulators with new materials. They would come again tomorrow afternoon and repair them, they left.

In afternoon, I transferred a small amount of saving from a Japanese bank to the Citibank, Ohtemachi. Because a young consultant recommended me eagerly to have saving at his bank. I hope Japanese banks should have much more charging spirit against foreign banks and should present competitive rate of saving.
