I brought my new Vaio to Sony's Service Station in Akihabara at 10:30 am. A consultant checked it without keeping me waiting and told me the system resource was not enough. Although I knew it, I have not been able to know how to increase it. He deleted start options of msconfig to almost a half of original settings and increase free space to 80 percent of resource. It became quite enough for me to operate the machine.

These things are not written in a users' manual attached to the product. Each option was named by the manufacturer, but the customers cannot identify the function of each option from its naming. Therefore they cannot know which one can be deleted for their own use. They have to come this service station and ask them for help, or call service desks of manufacturer. There is no other way. For those who carry it to overseas right after purchase like me, it is quite impossible to get help. Sony, one of the most powerful leaders of world electronic industry, is treating its customers lightly. It does not supply information quite necessary for customers. Those things should not be overlooked. At least the manufacturer put a note on user's manual that "If you feel you have not enough vacancy in system resource, please make a contact to the service station of manufacturer by phone or other means. You can call us free from all over the world." What do you think about my opinion?

I would like to add one more thing. Your jog dial is just a gimmick to attract beginners. As you advertised and promoted it on a large scale, you might not be able to inform customers that it is not necessarily needed. This might be one of the reasons why you do not open the necessary information to public, I presume. I think this is one of the great mistakes of big Sony.

After I came back to my home, I tried to delete start options from the old Vaio by following the way for new Vaio. But most of items are named differently and there are little items which carries the same name. I increased the vacancy to 49 percent but could not get space like new Vaio.

Anyway I could get nearer to my aim for having very efficient PCs. But I made a simple mistake for uploading pages of diary to provider, by putting incorrect dates on pages. But I had to ask Mr. Nakamura's help for restoring it. I wasted much hours for the problem.

In evening, NHK Symphony Orchestra October Subscription Concert was held. Maestro Takashi Asahina, conducted Symphony No. 4 by Bruckner. He was 92 years old and was said to be the world oldest as active conductor. When he finished it, there were standing ovations. Even after all musician exited from stage, about one third of original audience came down to the wing of stage and continued to applaud in praise of his performance. He came again on stage alone and replied to cheers from audience. The world oldest maestro has great presence this evening.
