It has become cool in Tokyo since yesterday. Last night, I put on the air conditioner for warming up rooms first time in the season. It continued to rain lightly until late evening. I worked on computer throughout the day. Although I called Mr. Nakamura how the overhaul of old Vaio was going, he said it took time more than expected to get a perfect backup and asked me to have more time. Even though I have to write a new article, I cannot start it with imperfect machine. I spent almost a whole day for recovering the delay of English edition of my diary.

A niece of mine who moved to New Deli in India together with his husband in late spring wrote to me a following letter (The editor excerpted from the original letter. Some of paragraphs was deleted.)

Dear Uncle Akira

It became cool in Deli, but still it is more than 30 degrees during day time. In night it cools down to about 20 degrees. So we can sleep without having coolers on. They have long festival holidays called as Diwali in India just like in Nepal. The festival is like Japanese new year. I could hear sounds of fireworks every days. Many homes were illuminated with lights or candles just like in Christmas holidays. I had to pay my servants one month salary bonus. The companies had to send cakes or gifts to their customers. During holidays, we left for a two night and three day trip to AJANTA & ELLORA. The Buddha temples in caves on Decan highland in west India which were built from a century before the birth of Christ to five century are called as AJANT. It is really an extravagant. I respect those people who have lived in this region of India and who painted wall pictures and built stone statues and caves. I was impressed by the fact that India has quite a long history of human culture. ELLORA has stone Buddahs, temples caved in rock walls. These things were made later than AJANTA. These wonderful properties were left by people who had excellent wisdom and abilities. These places are really worth seeing. India has many glorious cultural and historical heritages. On last trip, I saw TajMahal and was impressed by its beautifulness. I think there are many other valuable properties left to us. I am expecting to have opportunities for seeing them. Thank you.
