As it had moisture this morning, the white Himalayan mountains could not been seen from Kathomandu. I took a walk down to a small bridge which is crossing over one of upper streams to Gandis river. The river was brown and dirty. There is no sewerage around the area. Every house discharge waste water to the stream. It was called as a toilet river. |

Many commuters were walking down street fast by forming groups. The human legs are the most strong and reliable transportation here. Female commuters wear colorful saris and dress nicely. .
The breakfast was a buffet style. Rice porridge and miso soup were served. A receptionist at front lobby told me that it was possible to connect to internet if I bring my computer to the front desk. I could connect to an access point in Tokyo (As my provider has no access point not only in Nepal but in India too, I have made up my mind not to use access points in Singerpole or in Malaysia but to call directly to Tokyo because there would be no trouble for paying charges.) I up-loaded two pages to my travel diary. The transfer speed is so low that it took eleven minutes for uploading. It costed me 34 US dollars. Anyway I could prove that the up-loading to my home page was possible even from Nepal and also that e-mails could be sent or received here.

We left the hotel at about ten o'clock by a small bus to Patan, a neighboring town in south east of Kathomandu. We looked around ancient royal palace there and took lunch at Mountain Resort "Godavari." I stayed one night here three years ago just before its formal opening. At that time, I could get enough water for bath and suffered from poor heating of room. But it seems to do well these days. Its western style buffet served excellent foods while every seat was occupied by customers. As it was cloudy, we could not see Himalaya mountains. The last time when I was here, it was very fine and I could enjoy a wonderful view of the mountains. The place is located a bit far from the city but near to the airport. This mountain resort is my recommendation.
We took a flight CA501 of Cosmic Air leaving the city at 16:00 for Pokhara. The plane was a twin engined small plane (20 seats), main body of which was hanging down from its wing. It took about one hour and a half. Almost all of mountains were covered by clouds, but Mt. Manasulu (8,163 meters from sea level) came out its peak from white clouds.
At Pokhara we took a night at Hotel New Crystal, the nearest hotel to the airport. The dinner was Chinese dish. I could not only connect my computer to the outside line but it was impossible to use its power adapter because of miss match of plugs. I went to bed right after dinner. It was cool just like in Tokyo.
