At about four o'clock in this morning, I saw a red full moon was falling down to the ground at west sky. It was a very beautiful red disc just like a sinking sun. The left picture was taken with flush. |
The Vaio Z505, a note PC, which I brought to the latest U.S. trip was said to be light in weight and to have enough fuctions as PC. In actual use, it was very heavy as a big capacity battery was attached. Furthermore, I have to have a few tools other than the machine, such as a power adapter, a Link Port Replicator, a portable printer with a power adapter, a CD-ROM with a power adapter and a multi power sockets. The weight of those things is over three kilograms. They are not only heavy but also bulky. I carried them always in a small bag on back even when I visited offices on business.
I have asked Mr. Nakamura to recommend me when he finds a new small and light note PC which is suitable for my use. He informed me on October 5 that a new Vaio, PCG-CIVJ, would be the best for me and it would be put on sale from Sony on October 7. He suggested me to decide the purchase after I tried to operate it.
On October 9, a day of sport, I went to Akihabara to get an audio glass fiber cable. I dropped in T-ZONE and found the new Vaio was displayed. They said that the last two sets, PCG-CIVJ/BP which has a CD-ROM as a standard equipment, were available. I touched its keyboard. Its size is very small but I could push every key with my fingers well enough. It was very light (The battery was not equipped. One of the specialities of the new machine was that its battery is very light and small, and also has a longer hour capacity compared with the old one, a staff told me. ) Furthermore the machine was installed with a new OS, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, which was developed for individual users from Windows 2000 and put on sale on October 6. Although it was very difficult to get new Vaio without making reservation, I happened to have a chance for getting it right now. Immediately I purchased it, thanking for a good luck. A sales staff took off a label informing the last two sets were available and then came out a label saying the last one.
In order to cope with the big accident on my old Vaio, I started to operate a new machine. But it was not easy. Its connection with outside telephone line was very poor.
