It was a day of unlucky for me from early morning through late evening.
NHK BS broadcasts good classical music before dawn on holiday. When I waked up at about four o'clock, I switched on TV. As I reported before on this diary, the sound of TV comes through big audio equipments at my home. For usual daily listening, a transistor amplifier is used. Only when good classical music is played, a vacuum tube amplifier, a treasure of my home, is used. But this morning the sound came out brokenly. The audio equipments are very big, as they have 12 units of various amplifiers, digital and analog sound recorders, digital to analog converter, record player, FM tuner, and etc. They have twenty speakers in active operation. In order to write this page, I counted number of equipments first time. I was astonished to find that they were bigger than I thought. So it is difficult to find the cause of troubles like imperfect-connection or break of wiring.
Scores of coaxial cables and optical cables are used for connecting these equipments. The most probably, the imperfect connection of these cables caused the troubles. I have to doscover myself where it is.iTroubles on unit of audio equipments are easy for me to settle. To send it to manufacturer's service shop is only thing I have to do. j Although I seldom operate the whole system, it must be ready for full operation whenever I want to listen good music.
I took out wiring charts and checked every connection by listening sounds from speakers. I did it without taking any food for breakfast. The checks found that Sony's big analog-digital converter worked well when it connected with CD player while the converter worked very poor when it connected with a BS digital TV tuner. Then it became clear that the connection between plugs of glass fiber cable and sockets on equipments is not perfect. In the audio world, accuracy of audio products is rather loose. When you touch a cable connector just a bit, the connection between convertor and sound resources will become loose. Furthermore a circuit-changingover switch was inserted between a convertor and sound resources. This might be one of causes of troubles. I went down to Akihabara to get a long optical cable which has fine plugs on both ends. When I replaced the old cable to a new cable, the trouble was settled.
But late in evening, another big trouble happened to me.
